ITI Technical College Adds Construction Management Associate Degree Classes Start August 2016
Baton Rouge, LA: Announcing a new Construction Management degree. ITI Technical College is adding a new and exciting Associate in Occupational Studies degree in Construction Management. ITI Technical College was founded over 40 years ago to fit the needs of business and industry in Louisiana and the Gulf Coast region. Since then, ITI has helped thousands of individuals in fulfilling their dream “for a better life.”
Construction Management graduates may enter this expanding segment of the labor market as:
- Construction Coordinator
- Materials Management Coordinator
- Project Services Coordinator
- Assistant Scheduling Coordinator
- Assistant Project Manager
- Assistant Superintendent
The demand for Construction Managers along the Gulf Coast is high. In Louisiana, the volume of industrial work alone announced or underway is unprecedented.
Matt Morris, President and CEO of Complete Construction Contractors, L.L.C. explains that, “ITI College has been a leader in specialized industry training for years and is now going to make a difference in the Construction Management arena by providing formal training for students to help enrich and support the industrial, commercial and residential construction industries. There has been a deficit of formally trained CM graduates in this area due to the continuous growth in the market, and we believe this new program will greatly impact the deficit in a positive way.”
Graduates obtain skills in the management of construction projects in the two-year associate degree in Construction Management from ITI Technical College. Students learn the business side of construction such as materials/labor cost estimating, plan reading, procurement, project management and controls and construction scheduling. Construction management career settings include industry sectors of industrial construction, residential and commercial building and heavy/highway. Salaries in these fields are very competitive.
Sally Stuart Morgan, ITI Construction Management Department Head, received her BS in Construction at LSU in 1979; her MBA from Stanford University in 1989. She has held many construction management positions and taught in programs at LSU and Texas A&M University. She was asked to give her views of the benefits of the two-year educational process in construction management. She said, “The two-year program at ITI focuses on the demands of its ultimate users, our employers. ITI is able to react to a dynamic market. And ITI is able to give fast delivery of the learning objectives to the students without long breaks.”
She also responded that, “Our courses at ITI are technology-dense and career-focused. Instructors at ITI Technical College have industry experience. Classes are small with personalized help from instructors. Subject matter experts developed the sequence of Construction Management courses at ITI Technical College. This provides consistency of learning objectives from one course to the next. Our industry advisory committee and the Louisiana Board of Regents reviewed and approved our curriculum.”
Joe Martin, President of ITI Technical College, and Sally Stuart Morgan, Construction Management Department Head, are available to share information on this new and exciting Associate in Occupational Studies Degree Program at ITI Technical College.
